FAQ

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO GO FOR A RIDE?
At Confetti Balloons, we aim to provide you with a unique and memorable experience in the skies. Our pricing is as follows:

* $350.00 per person for a minimum of 2 passengers: This includes a private flight, tailored exclusively to your party, ensuring an intimate and personalized adventure.
* Additional passengers are $325.00: We have the flexibility to accommodate up to 10 passengers, subject to weight considerations.
*Kids 13 and under are $275.00

In the ballooning industry, the cost typically ranges between $300.00 and $700.00 per person, depending on factors such as the duration of the flight and the number of passengers. It’s essential to understand that hot air balloons, due to their FAA certification and operational complexities, are costly to own and maintain. The expenses encompass a dedicated crew, chase trucks, aircraft maintenance, and comprehensive commercial insurance.

Remarkably, ballooning today is significantly more affordable than in the past. Back in 1786, the equivalent cost in the U.S. was an astonishing $45,000 per passenger! The commitment of balloonists like us is to provide you with an extraordinary experience while striving to keep the cost to passengers as reasonable as possible.

Please keep in mind that pricing may vary from one balloon company to another, and our goal is to deliver exceptional value for your investment in this magical adventure.

DO YOU FLY SUNRISES FLIGHTS?

As senior hot air balloon pilots, experiencing the sunrise from the sky to the west is a cherished aspect of our profession. To ensure safety, we strictly adhere to regulations that prohibit taking off before sunrise without adequate lights. Additionally, we prioritize waiting for the drainage of the typical weather pattern, emphasizing passenger safety and the overall smoothness of the flight.

DO YOU FLY SUNSETS FLIGHTS?

While we have undertaken a few sunset flights in the area, the unreliability and tendency for winds to pick up present challenges. The shifting wind conditions during the evening can make sunset flights less predictable compared to our sunrise ventures

HOW LONG IS AN AVERAGE BALLOON FLIGHT?
An enchanting balloon flight is typically an experience that spans approximately 50 minutes to 1 hour. Under the gentle guidance of the wind, an average hot air balloon, propelled by winds of about 3-5 mph, covers a distance of 2 to 5 miles during this time.

Throughout the flight, clear communication between the pilot and the dedicated ground crew is maintained via radios. The pilot conveys the intended landing location to the crew, ensuring a coordinated and smooth descent. Once the balloon gracefully touches down, the crew’s invaluable assistance comes into play, facilitating the retrieval of equipment and providing a comfortable return for passengers to the launch site. It’s a harmonious collaboration that ensures the entire journey is as memorable as the flight itself.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY BALLOON FLIGHT?
When preparing for your hot air balloon flight, it’s important to select appropriate attire for a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Since hot air balloons often traverse remote and rural areas, we recommend the following clothing guidelines:

* Durable Outdoor Clothing: Choose clothing that can withstand the outdoor environment, which may include fields, desert brush, or other natural settings.
* Closed-Toed Shoes: Opt for sturdy footwear such as boots or sneakers, as there’s a possibility that the balloon may land in slightly uneven or rugged terrain.
* Layered Clothing: Balloon flights typically begin early in the morning when it can be cooler on the ground. However, it’s essential to keep in mind that it becomes warmer once you’re inside the balloon basket. Dressing in layers allows you to adapt to changing temperatures during the flight, ensuring your comfort throughout the journey.
* Long Pants: In both summer and winter, it’s advisable to wear long pants. This not only provides protection against the cold but also guards against potential contact with prickly vegetation at the landing site.

By following these clothing recommendations, you can ensure that your balloon flight is not only comfortable but also enjoyable, regardless of the season or location.

WHY ARE OTHER BALLOONS FLYING AND YOUR COMPANY IS NOT?

Every pilot makes independent decisions, and while other balloons may be flying for training, our extensive local experience guides our choices. Prioritizing passenger safety, we carefully assess factors such as wind conditions and weather forecasts. Our commitment to a secure and enjoyable experience drives informed decisions that prioritize the well-being of our passengers above all.

WHAT ABOUT BAD WEATHER?
In hot air ballooning, weather conditions are of paramount importance to ensure a safe and delightful flight. Ground and aloft winds, temperature, pressure systems, and visibility factors such as rain and fog collectively influence a pilot’s decision to take flight.

To prioritize safety, most reputable commercial balloon ride companies, like Confetti Balloons, have established standard practices. Pilots proactively assess the weather conditions the day before a scheduled flight and strive to inform passengers accordingly. This approach allows us to ensure that flights proceed under favorable conditions, enhancing your overall experience.

In the event of a flight cancellation due to unfavorable weather conditions, our primary goal is to ensure your safety and satisfaction. Therefore, we offer two options:

* Rescheduling: We’ll work with you to find another suitable day for your hot air balloon adventure. This ensures that you can still enjoy this remarkable experience.
* Refund: If rescheduling proves impractical or inconvenient, we are committed to providing a refund, ensuring that you receive a full reimbursement, safeguarding your peace of mind.

Our central mission at Confetti Balloons is to provide the safest and most enjoyable ride possible, with a steadfast focus on your well-being and ensuring that your memories of this extraordinary adventure are cherished.

HOW MANY PEOPLE FIT IN A BALLOON?
Hot air balloons come in various sizes, and their passenger capacities can differ significantly. While some balloons are designed to accommodate up to 30 passengers, here at Confetti Balloons, we’ve made a deliberate choice to prioritize a more intimate and personal experience. Therefore, we limit the size of our balloons to a maximum of 4 to 5 passengers.

It’s important to note that hot air balloons vary not only in the size of their envelope but also in the capacity of their baskets. The specific number of passengers a balloon can carry depends on factors such as the ambient temperature and the combined weight of all passengers.

If you have questions about the passenger capacity for the balloon ride company you plan to fly with, we recommend reaching out to them directly. They will provide you with the most accurate and up-to-date information, ensuring that you have all the details you need for your upcoming adventure.

HOW FAR DOES A BALLOON TRAVEL?
The distance covered by a hot air balloon is predominantly influenced by the prevailing wind speed in the area of flight. During an average pleasure flight, the balloon can typically travel a range of distances. These distances may vary, spanning from approximately two miles to as much as eight miles away from the launch site, providing passengers with a captivating and ever-changing landscape to enjoy during their journey.
WHY DO BALLOONS FLY IN EARLY MORNING AND LATE EVENING?
Balloons prefer early mornings due to calmer and more predictable winds, ensuring a smoother and safer flight experience. In contrast, late morning and afternoon flights encounter erratic winds caused by uneven surface heating, making flights less stable. Flying earlier in the day offers controlled and serene experiences, benefiting from ideal wind conditions between 1 to 6 mph.

By selecting these time frames for flights, balloon operators prioritize passenger safety and aim to offer a more enjoyable and predictable ballooning adventure.

WHY IS THERE A MAXIMUM WEIGHT LIMIT ON PASSENGERS?
The maximum weight limit on passengers in a hot air balloon is primarily determined by the balloon’s design and capacity. This limit can be influenced by the following factors:

* Balloon Capacity: Each balloon is designed with a specific capacity in mind, considering factors like its envelope size and the volume of hot air it can hold. These limitations are crucial for safety and ensuring that the balloon can ascend and descend safely.
* Environmental Conditions: The weight a balloon can carry is also influenced by the ambient temperature and the altitude at which it’s flying. As the temperature and altitude change, so does the balloon’s lift capability.
* Safety Considerations: Balloon pilots prioritize safety above all else. Overloading a balloon can lead to reduced maneuverability, longer ascent times, and potential difficulties during landing, impacting passenger safety.

Before each flight, the pilot carefully assesses these factors, including the weight of the passengers, to determine the maximum number of individuals the balloon can safely carry. This ensures that the flight proceeds smoothly and that everyone on board enjoys a safe and memorable ballooning experience.

HOW HIGH DO BALLOONS FLY?
Hot air balloons can reach various altitudes depending on the circumstances. The highest recorded hot air balloon flight reached an astonishing 22,000 feet, showcasing the incredible potential of these vessels. However, during typical recreational pleasure flights, balloons ascend from treetop level to a few thousand feet above the ground, providing passengers with a dynamic and unique perspective of breathtaking landscapes and vistas. These altitudes vary based on factors such as wind speed and direction, ensuring an enjoyable and memorable ballooning experience for all.
WHO CAN FLY?
We extend a warm welcome to anyone in good physical condition to join us for a flight. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, participants should be capable of standing unaided for the duration of the one-hour flight. Passengers aged 4 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult. However, please note that for safety reasons, pregnant individuals and children younger than 4 are unable to participate in the flight. Our door baskets accommodate up to five people, with the specific number depending on individual weights.
